My dog loves it... he gets super excited to see it... I introduced him to it by hiding treats in the pockets so now he always thinks there are treats somewhere inside. I get him into it by putting two training treats in the bottom and then opening it up. He gets right in and I zipper him up then I open the front compartment and hook his collar. He will not come out of it unless I force him to because he loves how comforting it is... it is comfortable for me it does not hurt my back and is very adjustable and has high-quality material and zippers. It has tons of room for my snacks... his snacks.... all my hiking stuff. Even though you can tuck the straps in and use it as a side carrier I would not recommend that. It doesn’t have enough structure and keeps falling in on him when used on its side. But it is marvelous as a backpack for hiking or around town. I use it when there are lots of dogs that I don’t want him interacting with or when he gets overwhelmed by the number of people... for example the mall or a crowded park on Labor Day...inside he settles down immediately... I have also used it as a front carrier. I will say I’ve had a few concerned busybodies think I shoved my dog into a backpack with no ventilation and become concerned for him... but it’s actually very well ventilated and he stays cool... even if you temporarily close the front flap and go into super secret spy mode and pop into the grocery store.... he can still see out through the flat and does not get hot. so anyone who sees a person walking around with one of these leave them alone... worry about yourself... and your own dog... ;)
